Pangea Foundation Software Used by 2-1-1 Iowa to Facilitate Flood Disaster Relief

Software to coordinate relief for Iowans affected by historical floods

San Diego, California - July 1, 2008 - Pangea Foundation, one of America’s leading Software-as-a-Service providers to nonprofits, announced that it has been asked to provide software that will help to facilitate the communication of disaster relief and recovery information to thousands of Iowans whose lives were affected by the historical June floods. As a result of the flooding, tens of thousands of people across six Midwest states were forced to flee from their homes.

The custom software, made available by Pangea Foundation to 2-1-1 Iowa on a pro-bono basis, aims to provide staff and volunteers of 2-1-1 Iowa with updated information that can be communicated to Iowans who were victims of the record floods so they can find relief and ultimately rebuild their lives.

The software also takes content from a variety of areas, including road closures, evacuation routes, emergency shelters, repopulation zones, hospital information, and other vital community resources and makes this information available the very minute there is an update.
Finally, the software tracks and reports the nature of the 2-1-1 calls to give local leaders insight into the community’s most vital information needs.
