Multi-Media Tools Aimed at Improving the Lives
of Disadvantaged Youth

Washington, DC – November 6, 1997
– Through its recently launched
nation-wide “Spread the Word” campaign,
Pangea Foundation, a San Diego-based technology
nonprofit announced today that it will produce
a Web site and an informational video for Washington
DC-based Project Northstar.
The fundamental mission of Project Northstar
is to help children who are homeless or disadvantaged
overcome barriers to a quality education.
According to Kristin Berry, Founder and Executive
Director of Pangea Foundation, “The goal
of Spread the Word is to enhance the ability of
community organizations to improve the lives of
disadvantaged youth. Many times community organizations
don’t have the resources available to conduct
effective public relations campaigns and create
awareness for vital community needs. Simple communication
tools like Web sites and informational videos
are often beyond their means. The result is that
community organizations are unable to tap into
the wealth of resources and talent available within
their local communities. Spread the Word creates
awareness by reaching out to people that want
to make a difference and showing how they can
help.”
Berry hopes that eventually informational videos
like the one being created for Project Northstar
will be able to be viewed directly on the Web
sites of community-based organizations to generate
even more awareness for service programs.
About Pangea Foundation
Pangea Foundation was created with one goal in
mind: To bring state-of-the-art technology to
community organizations. These groups are historically
among the last to receive breakthrough technologies.
Our goal is to change that. Since its inception
in 1996, Pangea Foundation has been developing
solutions that ensure all segments of the community
enjoy the vast benefits of technology, particularly
those underserved by traditional institutions.
We work closely with community organizations
to implement technology solutions that strengthen
their efforts to serve their communities. For
